Privacy Policy
Effective 01 August 2026. Last reviewed 08 July 2026.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you, unless you type it into a comment or the contact form yourself.
What we do not
No accounts, no passwords, no payment details, no selling data to anyone.
Your choices
Block cookies, opt out of ad personalisation, or ask us to delete a comment you left.
Who we are
McMenus.us is an independent information site about the McDonald's menu, run from outside McDonald's Corporation and with no connection to it. You can reach us at info@mcmenus.us or through the contact page.
No account, no sign up
There is nothing to register for here. We do not ask for your name, your email or your location to read anything on this site, and there is no login of any kind. The only information we ever hold is what you deliberately type into a comment or the contact form.
Advertising
This site carries advertising, and ads pay for the data collection behind it. Ad networks, including Google AdSense, may set cookies or read device identifiers to choose which ads to show and to measure whether they were seen. That happens inside the ad, not in our own code, and we never see who you are.
You can turn off personalised advertising from Google at My Ad Center, and opt out more broadly at optout.aboutads.info. Blocking third party cookies in your browser also works, and nothing on this site breaks if you do.
Comments and ratings
If you rate an item or leave a comment, that submission is stored in a hosted database (Supabase). A rating stores only the item, the number of stars and the time. A comment stores the text you wrote, the name you chose to type, and the time. There is no account behind either, so a comment is only linked to you by the name you decide to use.
Comments are published immediately and are visible to everyone. Do not put anything private in one. If you want a comment removed, email us with enough detail to find it and we will delete it.
Bot protection
The comment form and the contact form use Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce automated spam. Turnstile checks the browser rather than the person, and does not ask you to solve puzzles or identify traffic lights. Cloudflare processes technical signals from your browser for that check, described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
What your browser stores
Some features remember things locally on your own device. This is browser storage, not a server, and we cannot read it:
- Which items you have rated, so the widget can show your own rating back to you and stop a double vote.
- A saved meal plan from the meal planner, including any budget you set.
- A soft timer on the comment form to slow down repeat posting.
Clearing your browser data removes all of it. Nothing here is sent to us.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are read and where people arrive from, in aggregate. That tells us which parts of the menu need more attention. It is not used to build a profile of you and is not combined with anything you submit.
Hosting and logs
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request information such as IP address and browser type to deliver pages and block abuse. We do not maintain our own separate log of visitors.
Links to other sites
We link out to McDonald's own website, to map and directions services, and occasionally to reference sources. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. We have no control over what they collect.
Children
This site is aimed at a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has left a comment with personal details in it, email us and we will remove it.
Your rights
Because we hold so little, most requests are simple. You can ask what we hold that relates to you, ask for a comment or rating to be deleted, or ask us to correct something. Email info@mcmenus.us and we will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA may give you additional rights, and we will honour those requests too.
We do not sell personal information, and we never have.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the effective date at the top and describe what changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
Contact
Questions about any of this go to info@mcmenus.us, or through the contact page.
